Just Another Jerk

So who does this guy think he is?
He definitely needs to research "Asian Adoption" before opening his big mouth.

Abigail and "The Pool"

Today we went to Auntie Mitch's house to introduce Abigail to "the pool".
When we got there Auntie Mitch had bought Abby a Starfish Floatie to try out.
Here are some pics from today.

Checking out the toys that came with the floatie.

Happy Father's Day

Dads are the best! They love us, care for us, encourage us, support us, and help us every day.
Happy Father's Day Dad.
We Love You.

And of course Happy Father's Day to All the Single Moms.

A "single mother" expects nothing, wants everything and is always prepared to be MORE!
You can not spell FATHER without HER

Loren's Kindergarten Performance

Today the Kindergarten classes had a short music program.
They sang some really cute songs (I wish I had brought my video camera) and they all did a great job!
The songs had a uplifting beat to them. Abigail loved it!

The pictures came out dark, but you can see Loren in the center with the turquoise dress on and a black seal hanging from her neck!
It was a "By the Sea" production....can't you tell!!

After the performance we all went outside for a short get together.
We brought blankets. It was like a "mini picnic".
The kids had a quick snack, ran around a bit and took pictures of each other.

I felt bad for Loren. She is so comfortable with her friends. Next year she will be attending another school and will be leaving these friends.
Sometimes life sucks.

Miss Abby enjoying her snack and watching the kids running around.
She even got her picture taken by Loren's classmates!
She's becoming part of the gang!

First Pedi Visit

Today Abigail had her first Pedi appt.
She weighs 18lbs 9oz. and is 27 in long.
Her Pedi ordered a bunch of lab tests and we got most of them done but Abigail's vein blew (poor baby) so she still needs Hep A and Hep B labs to be done.

Her Pedi also ordered an xray of her skull because of her flat head and mentioned that she may need a helmet! Yikes! I didn't think her head was THAT bad! I figured once her hair grew it would cover the "flatness".
I figure I will have the xray done on Friday along with the "left over" lab work.

She also wants her to have a hearing test (maybe next week) and once ALL these tests are done she will go over them with me next visit, which is in July.

I hate these initial office visits. I hate having to hold her while everyone is poking at her. I feel like I am betraying her.
However Abigail has such a great personality that once the poking was done she would stop crying and give everyone a beautiful smile.
She holds no grudges...............yet.

Back Home and the 3 A.M. Get Together

Happy to say we are home safe and sound!
I am still getting over jet lag but that happend last time too. It took me about 2 weeks to finally feel "normal".
I have a nasty URI and am on antibiotics so I am sure that isn't helping.

Abigail is finally sleeping through some nights. The first few nights were tough. Abigail would wake at 3 a.m. and want to stay up. I would change her ,feed her and rock her to sleep but as soon as I put her down her eyes would pop open and she would start to cry. Once I picked her up she would stop crying immediately, which led me to believe that she just wanted to stay up!
Not Good.

Just when I was feeling very hopeless Abigail slept all night!! For 2 whole nights! I was so excited!!
And then...last night...Up at 3 AM again! But this time I didn't talk to her. I changed her, fed her and rocked her but didn't talk to her.
When I was rocking her I closed my eyes and she gave a "grunt" and touched my eyes as if to say "where are you?" I must admit I had to smile but I didn't talk to her and she fell asleep and slept until 8:30 this morning.
Now with Loren...when Abigail cries Loren will wake up and will not go back to sleep for a couple of hours.

That is why I call it the 3AM Get Together.

Couldn't they pick a better time to get together??
How I miss my sleep.

More Pictures

It is just about midnight here in Guangzhou.
My 2 girls are sleeping soundly.
Tomorrow is our last day here. We have the appt. with the American Consulate for the swearing in ceremony and also the Red Couch Photo shoot.
Got to get packing early because the bus will be taking us to the airport at 6 a.m.
(6 p.m the night before U.S time.)

Here are a few more pics of us in Guangzhou.
Talk to you soon.

This is one of the hats we bought for Abby. She will be wearing a few hats until her hair grows around her "flat" head.

In the hotel room checking out her Key Chain Picture.

In the Swan Room play room at the White Swan.

Me and my girls at Lucy's!!

I just tried to upload a few more pictures but for some reason blogger will not let me at this time.
So I am saying Good Night and I will try again tomorrow.

Playing catch up

Good Morning,
It is 10:20 a.m. here in Guangzhou and it looks like no rain today.
We have to wait in the room this morning while our Guides are at the American Consulate, just in case there are any questions they can get in touch with us.
Once we get the "OK" and we can leave our rooms, we are hitting the shops!

Abigail is adjusting nicely. She is a happy baby and LOVES to eat! She can chew anything with no teeth! You can tell these babies had food as well as bottles.
She can say "Da Da", "Ba Ba" and now can blow raspberries! A very quick learner.
She sleeps all night. Sometimes will cry and all I have to do is turn her to her other side (she can't turn over yet)and she settles back in for a bit more sleep!

We have just 2 more days here and then we head home. This trip went by much more quickly than last time. I think it may be because this time I had to travel to another province before coming to Guangzhou.
With Loren's adoption we flew to Beijing for 2 days and then headed straight to Guangzhou for the remainder of the trip.

I am going to try to post a few pictures of each day to try and catch up.
Not being able to post was driving me CRAZY! Talk about leaving everyone hanging!
Auntie Mitch's adapter blew while in Beijing and we had to wait until Guangzhou to find a store that carried the adapter.
Carrie (from our travel group) graciously offered the use of her computer if we could not get ours working so I felt a little better knowing that someone was willing to help and that I would be able to post Abigail's picture to family and friends.
Thank You so much Carrie for the offer. It will not be forgotten.

OK!! Now here are some pictures!!

Abigail was very frightened when we entered the hotel room on Forever Day. She looked all around the room and started crying and nothing seemed to help alleviate her fears except an Oreo!
When all else fails.....Oreo's!

I'M Back!!!!!!!!

Hello Everyone!!
I am back!! Had some technical difficulties with the adapter connection to the computer so I couldn't even email anyone.

Forever Day was a very emotional day...of course. Loren was a bit anxious because of all the crying babies but she did well. At first she was a bit scared of Abigail but now is starting to help me with her care.
She is going to be a great Big Sister.
So without further ado I give you ..... Forever Day.... May 26, 2008!

I'll start posting more pictures now that I am back!!! Yahoo!!
