No Blogging While in China?

I recently heard that China will not be allowing any blogging until after the Olympics.
How can this be?

Gail, I tested my blog address a few weeks ago and it was not blocked. I don't know if this is rumor, or if they just haven't put it into effect yet... maybe it is now! Go to this site:

http://www.websitepulse.com/help/testtools.china-test.html

Type in your blog address and see if it's blocked.

Oh no!!! How will we follow your trip?!?!?!

There is a way you can email updates to your blog. Not sure if that will work, but you might want to test it before you leave. Perhaps you can get updates to all of us that way!

Gail,

We weren't able to access blogger while we were in China, but as Two Pearls said, there is an option to e-mail posts to your blog. We didn't try it in China but I did test it out at home and it worked fine.

Another option is to start your own yahoo group and invite your friends and family to join. Several people I know have done this recently and it worked out great.

Good luck,
Tammy

I know that Journey to Me and My Adoption Website are accessible in China. You can do travel journals other places and not have issues.

A few options:
1. post via sending an email - very easy see SETTINGS - EMAIL - very easy
(you can't read it though)

2. Use a friend to post for you (give them your password and email info to them

3. try http://anonymouse.org/
I know you can use this to read blogs while in China - not sure about posting..

Good luck!

I have made arrangements with a friend to be my back-up blogger. That way if it doesn't work from China, I can email her and she will post the emails for me. She even volunteered to post pictures for us.

Hey Gail,I jumped from Rebecca's blog. We posted to our blog via e-mail a few time while we were there in 06. It works fine.
It was easier to blog in Guangzhou
than in Kunming. Pictures are hard to download in the smaller areas. I am excited for your family.
I hope your not blocked , but if you are you can post when you get home..We'll be waiting.:)

Well if it's true.. I guess we need to remember this is a communist country, and things are very different there... When we were there I certainly didn't feel like I was in a communist country BUT I was only thinking about our little girl...

I hope this is just a rumour..

Sounds like the best thing to do is have a back up plan. We have my sister who will blog for us if needed. Hopefully, we will be able to it ourselves. I don't think we will be traveling until after the Olympics.
